Scotland activity holiday: 3 to 4-day escape
MTB in the glens, golf and whisky? Try all three in our one-stop tour:
Day 1 eg Thursday
Arrival: to Brucefield Estate (by bicycle, car, train). Any guests arriving by public transport will receive a complementary no-dig tree planting session (can be done at any time over the next couple of days).
Evening: sample the delicacies brought to you by private chef Douglas McNair. All freshly prepared including delicious sauces cook your dinner under the stars on your firepit, with the comfort of knowing as many of the ingredients as possible are sourced within a 15 mile radius of the estate.
Day 2
Morning: With Steve your MTB coach & guide of Real World Riding select either long quiet trails, fast open descents, or some long gnarly descents . . . either way you’ll complete the session utterly rejuvenated from the summits of the Ochil hills.
Afternoon: now feeling fully refreshed, breathe in the scent of Norway spruce pine needles, roll your hand over the sumptuous mosses on our guided History & Wildlife Tour. You’ll discover bird song, fungi and 300-yr old trees deep in the forest.
Dine like a local and experience vibrant colour and taste with Anna’s carefully curated menu at The Aviary in the pretty village of Dollar (15 mins away)
Day 3
Morning: up bright and early to meet your golf pro at Forrester Park – in sculptured maturing landscapes you’ll be introduced to Scotland’s Game by trying a few different techniques – for beginner or advanced (20 mins)
Afternoon: now feeling invigorated the timing is right to sample some unique Scottish whiskies – book a tour with either the small self-owned Blackness Bay Distillery or the Lowland Rosebank or Highland Tullibardine (20 to 30 mins)
Other options within 20 mins
Bee-keeping: Here there is a choice either go for the bee-keeping experience at Mains Apiaries where you’ll help to open the hive, observe and identify bees, check on colony health, check hive maintenance and of course explore the delicious honey and wax.
2. Pocket rocket riding: take a ride in a feisty 'Pocket Rocket' at Knockhill —a racing car with a Yamaha engine that oozes pure fun! These are serious racing machines, quirky, quick off the mark, and built for speed.
